Marhaban Ya Habibi Ya Rasulallah

Today, 12 Rabiul Awwal Hijriah according to popular opinion is the birthday of prophet Muhammad pbuh. The other is 8 Rabiul Awwal.  No matter what the date is, the important thing is that we love our prophet so much for the sacrifices he did for us and we know he too loves us very much. As mentioned in the Qur’an on the last two verses of Surah At Taubah (The Repentance);

There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves.

Grievous to him is what you suffer;

[he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful.

But if they turn away, [O Muhammad], say, “Sufficient for me is Allah ;

there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied,

and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.”

Sallu Alaih.

Selamat Hari Raya ‘Idil Adha 1439

Saya mengambil kesempatan pada saat ini mengucapkan kepada sekalian muslimin dan muslimat;

“Selamat Hari Raya Haji/Korban.”

Exposing The Blood Moon and The Eclipse

I missed the event in January caused I had to attend to some business.  Not this time, since it occurs late at night till early morning. The moon will be high up and I don’t need to go to an open ground.  I just need to set the camera up on the balcony. The difference between this one and the previous is that the full moon on 31 January 2018 was a big one (moon nearest to earth – Perigee), while this one is small since the moon is at the furthest distance from earth (Apogee). On the bright side, it is the longest lunar eclipse this 21st century.

Here are the photographs I had just taken on this day 28 July 2018 till the moon fully lost its brightness but still left with some light, hence called the Blood Moon. The picture of the Blood Moon here is just too grainy to punch up, so I leave it with just the usual edit.

Also Mars is in line of sight.  That small dot in the lower left-hand is the fourth rock at its nearest point to Earth.

Note:

My mistake in capturing the Blood Moon was that I had a 1.4 teleconverter attached to a 150-600mm lens at an aperture setting of F9 running at 64000 to 128000 ISO settings.  I was too concerned about getting a large image.  In retrospect, I should be using the 70-210mm F2 lens with or without the 1.4 teleconverter, which would give me an F4 or F2 aperture respectively.  A much smaller image, but I would then be able to expose at a very much lower ISO and slower speed.

Selamat Hari Raya ‘Idil Fitri 1439

Bulan Ramadhan antara yang terbilang

Banyakkan amalan janganlah terhalang

Suatu ajakan yang sangat menjulang

Tiap kali tibanya Ramadhan yang gemilang

Kini Syawal sudah pun menjelang

Tamatlah sudah puasa yang diulang

Semoga ibadah yang sedikit ataupun yang tiada terbilang

Diterima Allah dan tiadalah ia hilang

Ku dengarkan dendangan penuh sedulang

Sampai fajar hampir menjelang

“Selamat menjalankan ibadah puasa Ramadhan, semoga puasa kita diterima Allah s.w.t..” Amin.

Sallu Alaih.

Selamat Hari Raya Haji/Korban/’Idil Adha 1438

Sempadan Mina dan Arafah

Saya ucapkan kepada sekalian muslimin dan muslimat,

“Selamat Hari Raya Haji.”

Maka selesailah syarat-syarat rukun Haji.  Semoga mereka-mereka yang menjalankan Ibadah Haji mendapat Haji Mabrur, Amin.

Ibadah Haji memakan masa 4 atau 5 hari sahaja. LabaekAllah humma labaek, Labaekalaa syarii kalakkalak baek, Innal hamda wanniqmata lakawalmulq, Laa syariikalak.

Banda Aceh: Icons Of The Tsunami & Some Street Photos

The Grand Mosque, Masjid BaiturRahman – House of The Mercy Mosque became a sanctuary when it happened

It has been more than a decade since the destruction caused by the tsunami that hit Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh Province, Indonesia. Life goes on. The city has been rebuilt and looks like any other city in Indonesia. Some scars still remain though. Not only as a reminder, but some, for its exceptionally withstanding the brunt of the force of the wall of water. They are now icons of the tsunami. I am sure there are many, but five of them are now very popular as tourist attractions.

I visited four of them. I missed the dome of a mosque that was swept more than twenty kilometres away inland and stranded in a paddy field.

Masjid BaiturRahim – House of The Merciful Mosque lies near the shore at Ulee Lheue

Masjid Rahmatullah – The Mercy of Allah Mosque at Lampuuk not far away from the shore. I was told that the water reached the dome

This is an electric generator on a barge

A stark contrast of a boat not on water but on a roof of what used to be a house

Here are some street photos.

Happy Eid Mubarak 1438

Happy Eid Mubarak greetings to all muslims on this auspicious day of Eid al-Fitri.  As we say in Southeast Asia, “Selamat Hari Raya ‘Idil Fitri” or “Selamat Hari Lebaran.”  May all our deeds this passed Ramadhan are well received by the Al-Mighty and all our sins erased so that we may return back to our ‘Fitrah’ state. I would like to add in my lingo, “Maaf Lahir dan Bathin (forgive my overt and covert wrongdoing if any) to all that know this yours truly.”

The Malays have tons of Hari Raya songs (Eid songs), just check it out on Youtube. I have three of them linked here. The level of the Malay language used in some of these Eid songs is high that sometimes I can only barely managed to grasp the meaning.

SALAM DUNIA – Peace to the world

Chorus;

Salam dunia, Salam semua  –  Peace to the world, Peace to all

Salam Hari Raya, Bersinar akhirnya  –  Peace to this Hari Raya (Eid), Shining at last

ANUGERAH AIDILFITRI – Awards of Eid Al-Fitri

Mankind is a forgetful lot, denying and/or forgetting the favours blessed upon them by their Lord.

Heart wrenching chorus;

Mari puji-memuji kepada tuhan  –  Come let’s praise The Lord

Titis kasihNya melimpah seluruh alam  –  Bead of His Love overflows all over the realm/universe

Mari puji-memuji tuhan yang esa  –  Come praise The One and Only (unique) Lord

Insafi nikmat diberi di Hari Raya  –  Be repented for favours granted this Hari Raya

NAZAM LEBARAN – Poem of Eid

Chorus;

Berdendang mari berdendang, Berdendang di seluruh alam  –  Hum, come lets hum, Hum all over the realm (Universe)

Bergema suara bergema, Nazam lebaran  –  Resonate the voice resonate, Poem of Eid

Bertingkah rentak bertingkah – Bertingkah paluan rebana  –  Behave, the beat behave – Behave, the beating of rebana*

Berkisah alunan berkisah, Nazam lebaran  –  Telling, melody telling story, Poem of Eid
